I currently work as a general Unix consultant for the University of Maryland, College Park Office of Information Technology (OIT) Consulting Services group. (Formerly the Academic Information Technology Services (AITS), formerly the Computer Science Center (CSC). I support the Solaris and Linux platforms to various extents. Other specialties include relational databases (Oracle under Solaris and previously, SQL/DS under CMS and Datacom/DB under CICS), mail lists using Majordomo & Listserv software, and general account information (administration & use).
I used to support such archaic operating systems such as NeXTStep (v. 0.8 through v. 3.2), DEC Ultrix & OSF, Sun SunOS (prior to Solaris) and IBM VM/CMS. I also used to speak Unisys Exec 8, but that doesn't seem to be much in demand around here these days. (@FLIST me, baby!)
I am a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park campus (1984) with a B.S. degree in Geography (emphasis on Computer Assisted Cartography & Remote Sensing) with a minor in Math & Statistics. I have been involved in computer user support since 1983, first as a student, then full-time starting in 1984.
